Greene County is in a heat advisory through Saturday. Hot and humid conditions will continue, particularly in central and southern Iowa, where heat indices are predicted to peak at 100-105 degrees. Overnight temperatures in the 70s will provide little relief from the heat.

The heat index Friday at 3 pm is predicted to be 105 degrees, and still 85 degrees at 9 pm. The heat index Saturday at 3 pm is also expected to be 105 degrees.

The National Weather Service reminds Iowans that heat illness is possible and advises taking breaks in air conditioning or shade, drink plenty of water, and never leave children or pets in a car unattended.
